Overnight Oats

overnight oats, oatmeal, cold oatmeal, almonds, strawberries, yogurt, mason jar

Out with the old in with the new. Well sort of. It’s getting hot here in Phoenix. To the point where summer is just right around the corner and the 90 degree weather is just starting to show his face. Since it’s starting to get hot in the mornings I decided to try out overnight oats. I have been loving oatmeal (I loved this weekend oatmeal), but it’s just too much in the summer so I switched to it’s colder sister, overnight oats.

Recipe (I usually wing it, but here are the basics and put in at least the first 4 in this order)

1/2 Old Fashioned Oats
1 TBSP Chia Seeds
Coconut milk/almond milk/cashew milk/cow milk etc. to cover the oats and chia seeds
1/4 cup yogurt (regular or greek)
then any topping you want.
I’ve been loving:
Honey, dates, peanut/almond butter strawberries, almonds and I add a little granola in the morning for added crunch!

You can put it in a mason jar and seal with a lid or a cup. In the morning stir everything up and enjoy!
